Part 2:
World Of Warcraft: Fourth Series

In early 2004, Blizzard announces that they will be releasing the fourth series of their popular game. Gamers all over were excited because people had come to expect very highly of the makers of the game. The hype the news created grew as the release date approached near. The excitement of the anticipation grew as the company announced that the new version of the game was going to be online and multi-player. There have been the online multi-player games before, but coming from Blizzard, it was sure to be a winner. And people knew it. They knew that the world of Azeroth was never going to be the same again. In March 2004, Blizzard selected a few game players and invited them to test the beta version of the release. The players like what they saw, and could play, and their reviews attracted more excitement to the wait of the final release.

In November 2004, the much awaited World of Warcraft was released. The hype of the game soared instead of settling down. Even after so much hype and expectations, it took the gamers by surprise. World of Warcraft has attracted new users to online gaming ever since its release, it still does so. In 2005 February, Blizzard release World of Warcraft's European version. The same year in June, they entered the potentially one of the largest market – China. Releases in other countries also followed the same year, and by 2005 end, the gamers of World of Warcraft reached record breaking five million.
Part 1:
World Of Warcraft: History

In the world of online massively multi-player online role-playing game, World of Warcraft is the king. It is the pioneer in online gaming.

History
In 1994 when Blizzard Entertainment came out with Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, few people took notice. It was popular, but not overwhelmingly so. In Orcs and Humans, Blizzard introduced an empire of Azeroth and created a real time strategy game on the backdrop of place. In 1995, the company came up with the second release, and people were impressed. The second release Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness did make a mark. People considered to be a materpiece of a game. The game has an intriguing game-play, an epic story telling and simply amazing graphics. Since then Blizzard has improved, building on one release after another. It has managed to maintain the quality of the games. The graphical superiority has also tremendously improved to the amazement of the fans. In 2002, with the hype ever increasing, Blizzard release Warcraft 3: Reign of the Chaos, and with that the company set the bar high for PC gaming.
You can make people subscribe to your list in so many ways, as you have descided to have an opt-in list. however below are three major things to consider in avoiding many complications. Sending your subscribers your promotional newsletters or catalogs is not the main thing that will keep them in your list, there are also things you must do to avoid subscribers from wanting to get off from your list.

Aside from that, you also want to avoid any problems with the law and your internet service provider or ISP. There are now many laws and rules that are applied to help protect the privacy of the internet users from spamming and unwanted mails. With the popularity of the electronic mail as a medium for marketing because of the low cost, many company’s have seized the opportunity and have flooded many people’s e-mail accounts with promotional mail.

But, with an opt-in list, you avoid this annoyance because people subscribe to the list; they want to receive the newsletters and promotional materials. They have consented to being on the list by subscribing themselves, just don’t forget to put an unsubscribe feature everytime in your opt-in list so that you avoid any confusion. There may be times when an email account was provided when the real owner didn’t want to subscribe.

It is essential that you keep your list clean and manageable. Arrange it by using the many tools and technologies available for your opt-in list. Do not worry; your investment in this marketing strategy is well worth it with all the coverage you will get which will likely be converted into sales then to profit.

Keep yourself and your business out of trouble and potential run-ins with the law and the internet service providers. Keep your operation legit and clean. Your reputation as a legitimate businessman and a legitimate site depends on your being a straight and true marketing strategist. As a tip, here are three things to avoid when emailing your list.

1) Take notice of your unsuccessful sends. These are the e-mails that bounce. Bounced emails, also known as undeliverable messages, are those messages that, for whatever reason, were not successfully received by the intended recipient.

There are bounces that happen or occur because the server was busy at that time but can still be delivered in another time. There are also bounces because the inbox of the recipient is full at that time. There are those bounce messages that are simply undeliverable ever. The reason for this is that it may be an invalid email address, a misspelled email address, or an email address that was abandoned and erased already.

Manage your list by putting markings on those that bounce. Erase an email account from your list so that you have an accurate statistics and records as to how many are actually receiving your mail. You may also want to check the spellings of your email addresses in your list. One common mistake is when an N instead of an M is placed in the .com area.

2) Always provide an unsubscribe feature in your site and an unsubscribe link in your mails. When someone in your list files a request to be unsubscribed, always take that request seriously. If you don’t take them off your list and keep sending them your e-mails, you are now sending them spam mail.

When you are reported as a spammer, you and your business can get into a lot of trouble. You can be reported to the authorities and maybe blacklisted by many internet service providers. You will lose a lot of subscribers this way and many more in potential subscribers.

3) Do not provide pornographic or shocking and disturbing content in your newsletters. It is hard to decipher the age of the recipient and many complaints may stem from these. Controversial issues also are to be avoided to not be branded by your subscribers. Stick to the nature of your site and business.

Always remember these tips in this article so that you can have a healthy relationship with your subscribers as well as be kept within the boundaries of what is allowed in sending mails to an opt-in list.

Submit your Website to Search Engines

The best advertising and marketing is done by submitting to a search engine. If you have a web-based business and or do most portion of your business online, I mean on the web through website no amount of press release, newspaper or radio ad, banner ad, spam email or newsletter will achieve the same results, although, maybe effective in a small proportion.
I don’t rely on companies that promise automatic submission of your website to hundreds of search engines which are but only false promises. The best way to submit your website for search engine ranking and inclusion is to do it yourself or to hire an expert to do it manually, by contacting the search engine companies and directories.
Before you begin to submit your website to search engines ensure your websites are thoroughly designed to the professional quality using the right key words, good graphics and pictures and the relevant content. Don’t submit websites that are incomplete. While submitting to a search engine, make sure to provide information about your website, keywords and any other information that may be pertinent, including the name and contact information of your business.
Mere submission to search engine companies does not guarantee that your site would be immediately listed and the ranking will be high. Because there are thousands of new websites coming up every day and it may take quite sometime before they take up your site for review by human editors. One important factor to remember while submitting site is to include a site map of your website which makes the crawling easy for the web robots. Search engines like ‘http://www.yahoo.com’ hardly considers submissions without sitemaps.
There are many online companies that accept search engine submission services. You can choose to do it yourself with a software package and service like this one:

The idea of being mere passengers on a ship meant to sail to the farthest points does not appeal to people who like to put their destiny into their own hands. They have the desire of maneuvering the ships themselves, of being able to be the ones to take it anywhere they want to. Being aboard a ship on its way to a particularly great destination is something each and every one of them dreams of, and the knowledge that they have the capacity to steer it themselves is what makes them actually want to.

Perhaps this is the reason why more and more people are succumbing to one of the most popular businesses around – affiliate marketing. It is because in this business, there are no bosses to order the employees around. There are no deadlines to meet and no clutter of work do to. One only needs to be equipped with the tools needed to succeed in a business such as this, and he is bound to get what his heart ultimately desires.

Just what are the things needed to be able to succeed in affiliate marketing? What must one have within himself to be able to do well in this industry? There is a lot of competition involved in affiliate marketing, and to be able to rise above the norm, one must be equipped with just the right stuff necessary to propel him forward. There are five things one must ultimately possess if he wants to achieve the glory he is yearning for in this business, and these five things are a must for him to possess to be able to stand out among the rest.

The very first quality one must possess if he wants to try his hand in affiliate marketing is the willingness to learn and be trained. Treading through unfamiliar territory is scary stuff if one is not properly equipped, and he might get lost amidst a jungle of the unknown. Learning the tricks of the trade is also an important aspect of the game, and one’s willingness to know it all will give him far better advantages in the business than he could ever imagine.

The second quality one must possess is the willingness to invest time and effort even if direct results do not seem at all apparent. Although several months may pass without good news, it is important for one who has his foot in the industry to hold on and wait. It is this quality which would save him from giving up after investing a lot of himself in the business.

The third quality one must possess is self-determination. If one wants to conquer the affiliate marketing world, he must have the ability to push himself ahead. Never having to say die is a quality each and every affiliate marketer should possess, and the ability to motivate oneself into scaling greater heights is an ability which would actually take an affiliate marketer there.

The fourth quality one must possess is discipline. If one knows how to teach himself to work everyday with all the energy he can muster, then he is close to achieving what he has set his heart to having in the first place.

The fifth and last quality one must possess is optimism. Negative attitudes and hearsays should not discourage an affiliate marketer from pursuing what he has to in order to make life better for himself and for everyone concerned. Neither should anyone influence his attitude toward the business, because once in it, it is a must for him to be the captain of his ship and the master of his soul.

The ingredients to success in a business such as affiliate marketing are diverse and manifold, but the most important thing one needs to be able to make it big lies in himself alone. It is he who has the capacity to do everything to be able to realize his prospects, and the desire which fuels his heart in doing so is the gasoline which should keep the engine going.

Affiliate marketing is all about putting one’s fate into his own hands. The right attitude is the key to being able to steer one’s ship into that part of the ocean where a certain kind of serenity can be found, one that permeates the atmosphere as the ship sails calmly on.

As new businesses pop up every minute and every day, it is no wonder that marketing is such as significant aspect of running and operating a business venture. With new products being offered, existing companies are regularly looking for ways to improve their effectiveness and expand their share of the market.

Marketing therefore is a must-have for any kind of business. Creating marketing campaigns such as posters printing or print posters are major strategies to help any business survive in their industry. Many posters printing companies have helped small and Fortune 500 businesses alike to put their products and services out there for the target market to see and know.

With marketing as a constant effort in any business, here are tips on how you can find the best company to help you reach as many leads to your business:

Start with your marketing services. This means having to know what you want. As you may well know, there is a huge line separating one’s need from the wants. Despite your having so great an offer, you need to only look at the means that will help you satisfy your needs. What do you need to accomplish your task? What kind of collateral would get you the leads you need to increase your ROIs? Do you need posters printing to get your message across? Dedicating your efforts and resources to what you do not need is a total waste. And the only way you will know if you can have what you need is to ask for other services available from your marketing partner, in addition to the main services you require. You will never know if there is something out there that would be of great help if you do not ask. There is no harm in asking.

Second, make the right choice. Although others might tell you that it’s a difficult thing to do, but there are marketing firms that actually offer a full range of services in excellent quality to boot. Professional companies do work with professionals and experts so it is not that hard to find a partner that can do almost anything when it comes to marketing your business. This is especially rewarding for many businesses because you do not have to go from one company to another just so you can fix each aspect of your marketing needs. A firm that can handle everything can save a lot or your time and resources in a big way.

Finally, look for a company that you can be partners with not just once. There are a variety of companies out there and searching for the right one may be overwhelming at most. Thankfully, it is easier to actually choose the right one for you. All you need is to know what you are looking for and you’ll be able to shortlist those that you would really be able to work with for a long time.

Always remember that once you build a relationship with your marketing company, you would definitely be working with them not just once but for many of your marketing needs. Hence, working with a firm that does comprehensive services will lessen the hassle of dealing with so many people. In addition, a company that you have worked with for some time can definitely give you a much better result as they would know you and your business by heart.

DM AuctionThanks to all who took part in the event and the contest and the auction. We had a blast!

In the final tally, Domain Madness auction sold 25 of 48 names offered in the catalog for a total just below $150,000. And this after only initially selling 16 in the live event. But we put forth a new strategy and believe it paid off.

For this auction, we decided to take things in another direction, largely because of a comment someone made about a premium name, “we’ll wait and get it cheaper later.”

Not only was this not true (owner was talked way down for auction and price is up again) but it made me realize that the best option for sellers would be to increase prices with each stage, instead of decreasing or keeping stable.

And so we did. After the auction we raised the prices on the remaining names and would do so at least two more times before it was all said and done. The idea is to de-motivate the cherry-picker, force them into earlier decisions or pay more later.

The result is that several names were sold above the reserve in the post auction phase - a first for us and perhaps for the sellers as well. We now intend to make this ‘rising’ scale standard procedure in all upcoming auctions - including the GEO auction to be held at the end of April in San Diego.

Tally Your Domain Madness Contest Score

A perfect score is 74 points - means you guessed correctly which names would and would not sell. Correct answers are given points - based on the bracket they are in. For example, if you guessed that Lawclass.com would not sell, you get ONE point. If you guessed it would sell, you get no points but no deduction either. Please contact DomainConsultant if you tally up a perfect score or anything above 69. Download the Official Bracket Sheet.

We will be publishing the overall vote totals for each name in the coming weeks as an interesting case study. For the moment, here are the final, official sales figures.

Hitachi has said it will cut jobs around the world

Electronics maker Hitachi has reported a record annual loss for a Japanese manufacturer, after demand for its products fell.

The Japanese technology and industrial conglomerate announced a net loss of 787.3bn yen ($8.1bn; £5.3bn).

It warned that the next year would continue to be difficult and forecast a loss of 270bn yen.

In January, Hitachi said it planned to cut up to 7,000 jobs globally because of a big fall in sales.

At the time it also said that it expected to make a loss of 700bn yen.

But last week the firm said losses would be bigger than its earlier estimate because of writedowns on some of its assets.

Gloomy outlook

The company is a rather diffuse and not entirely successful beast
Jonathan Allum, Japan strategist, KBC Peel Hunt

Revenue fell 11% to 10 trillion yen.

The economic downturn has led to weak demand for Hitachi's electronics, chip and automotive products.

"The global economy... is not expected to see a fully-fledged recovery until 2010 at the earliest," Hitachi said in a statement.

"The global economic outlook is being shaped by concerns about the US and other industrialised nations slipping into negative economic growth, and about slowing economic growth in emerging economies and the yen's appreciation."

According to the Shinko Research Institute, Hitachi's results represent the worst annual loss for a Japanese manufacturer, and the second-largest in Japanese corporate history.

The largest annual loss in Japanese corporate history came in 2002 when telecommunications giant Nippon Telegraph and Telephone reported an 834.6bn yen loss.

Cost-cutting

Shares in Hitachi fell 5.2% to 381 yen ahead of the results.

Hitachi has already said it plans to cut costs of about 490bn yen.

It is looking to reduce the number of its subsidiaries to 700 from 910 by March 2010.

"A lot of the losses at Hitachi are to do with restructuring," said Jonathan Allum, Japan strategist at KBC Peel Hunt

"The company is a rather diffuse and not entirely successful beast."

Corporate losses

Hitachi was one of several Japanese companies presenting gloomy results to the market on Tuesday.

Japan Airlines reported an annual loss of 63.2bn yen after international passenger numbers fell. It had made a profit of 16.9bn yen the previous year.

Carmaker Nissan reported a net loss of 233.7bn yen for the year to 31 March, although the loss was not as bad as the company had predicted earlier this year.

Mazda announced an annual loss of 52.1bn yen, down from a 65.2bn yen profit a year earlier.

And Yamaha Motors reported a net loss of 15.8bn yen for the January to March quarter, compared with a profit of 22.2bn yen for the same period in 2008.

UK pension funds saw their financial position improve during April, according to the Pension Protection Fund (PPF).

The collective deficit of nearly 7,400 final salary schemes in the private sector fell by £53.5bn to £242bn.

However this was still far worse than the surplus of £27.1bn recorded one year ago in April 2008.

The PPF said rising share prices in the past month had pushed up the value of scheme assets.

"During the month of April there was a 4% increase in assets due to rising UK and global equities," said the PPF.

"Meanwhile, higher gilt yields in general led to a fall in liabilities of 3%."

In particular, the FTSE-100 share index rose by 9.5% in April.

The actuarial firm Watson Wyatt said share prices had continued to improve since the end of last month, shrinking the deficit of pension schemes further.

"Stock market improvements could have added another £15 billion to pension scheme assets since the end of April," said Watson's spokesman John Ball.

"This is a reminder of how volatile pension scheme funding is and how much things can change in only a few weeks," he added.

eBay is requiring that buyers destroy items they believe are non-authentic according to the new eBay Purchase Protection Policy, as reported in today's AuctionBytes Newsflash newsletter. But many questions remain over just how eBay will implement the policy and how it will protect sellers from unscrupulous or misinformed buyers.

For instance, under what circumstances would eBay instruct a buyer to destroy an item? (and how would eBay know if the item was authentic or not?)

Are there cases where eBay would instruct a buyer to destroy an item without having it authenticated?

Does this provision apply to all sellers? Or will eBay have agreements with certain trusted sellers so it is understood those sellers would not be subjected to this particular provision?

A doll-seller on eBay's discussion board raised another point - how will eBay define "authentic":

Authentic is not even defined! Does this apply only to fakes and reproductions? Or does "authentic" come into issue any time there is a dispute between the seller and buyer regarding the doll? If a seller sells a china doll as a "covered-wagon hairstyle" and the buyer claims it was instead a "flat top," does that mean the doll is not authentic?

Since eBay needs to train its customer service representatives on exactly how to implement the policy, it should have answers to these questions that can be readily shared with sellers, who are increasingly being forced to bear more risk in selling on eBay.
